Taking off the weekend, and taking on the task of DIY painting is probably not on the world’s top ten list of free time activities, in fact most of us voice a few gripes and groans, but in the end come out feeling pretty satisfied and relieved with a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Even after all the decisions, purchasing, prep work, and manual labor, being able to cross this task off your endless to-do list will reward you with a whole new fresh feeling to any room in your home. Lucky for you, there are ways to prepare ahead of time that will save you time and energy during the painting process. An important decision that has to be made is how exactly you are going to apply the paint based on the needs of the room.
Most of us are pretty familiar with the classic paint brush method of applying coats of paint, but there are other tools that can be used to apply paint that can save you time and energy. The first of these being a method many of us don’t take into consideration, paint sprayers.
Although they are not the right way to go for every paint job, if the room permits, put down the roller and invest in one of these mobile, easy to use, and light weight devices that could be the perfect application tool for your project.
When to use a paint sprayer
If a paint sprayer seems like something you want to give a try, you first need to keep in mind a few things and give a good analysis of the room being painted. Paint sprayers are appealing to many people because of the faster application process it offers. Paint sprayers also can be reliable to ensure that an even coat of paint is applied, these devices also are known to do a quality job on difficult paint jobs such as, uneven surfaces, corners and edges, and window shutters.
However, the most well known and desired use of the paint sprayer is for large, open areas in need of a quick, clean application of paint. All of this sounds pretty appealing and may be making you wonder why this isn’t a more popular option? Before you run out and invest in a paint sprayer, it’s best to keep a few things in mind regarding the room/area being painted. Paint sprayers are not the best option to use if you are painting an area with multiple spots that you don’t want paint, a roller may be the best option to use here, paint sprayers aren’t quite known for detailing.
When to use a paint roller
There are other reasons as to why people still prefer painting via a paint roller, a big one is when we ask ourselves if investing in a paint sprayer is really worth it or available in the painting budget, when the more cost efficient roller can be perfectly suitable, and sometimes more effective than a sprayer.
Rollers do come in handy in some situations, a big one being the fact that the area being painted isn’t excessively large and requires you to paint around painters tape. They are also a good way to go when you realize ahead of time that you may not be able to finish the whole room in one session, rollers come with an easier clean up and storage process, and come in handy when you just want to set it down and take a much needed break.
Overall, the two tools both come with their pros and cons and will both get the job done. If you are still struggling to decide which method to use, review the paint job you are trying to accomplish and review the pros and cons of each tool. In the end, both methods can get the job done effectively and quickly when used correctly and for the best fitting paint job.
